SNMG2 in Passex with the Armed Force Malta

Nisida, Naples - 20 September, 2012 - Units of the Standing NATO Maritimes Group 2 (SNMG2) recently completed a four-day port visit to La Valletta, Malta.

The visit ended in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) carried out between the  SNMG2 and a special boarding team of the Armed Force of Malta (AFM). According to the SNMG2 Public Affairs Officer the entire training with the AFM was of benefit to all participating units and crews .

SNMG2 is a multinational, integrated maritime force - made up of vessels from various allied nations, training and operating together as a single team. The Group is permanently available to NATO to perform a wide range of tasks, from participating in exercises to crisis response and real world operational missions. Usually the Force is employed in the Mediterranean area but, as required, will be available anywhere NATO requires it to deploy to.

The Partnership for Peace is a programme of practical bilateral cooperation between individual Euro-Atlantic partner countries and NATO. It allows partners to build up an individual relationship with NATO, choosing their own priorities for cooperation.
